Notice Me — privacy

Notice Me is a family app: parents notice the good things their children do, record them, and keep track of prayer, reading and school learning at home. It is built and run by one person, not a company, and it is made to hold as little as it can.
The short version. Your family's data is stored in your family's own space on Google Firebase, visible only to the people you have added, each seeing only what their role allows. There are no adverts, no analytics, no tracking, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone. Children's logins are created and controlled by a parent. You can delete your account, or the whole family, from inside the app.

What is collected, and why

Nothing else is collected. No contacts, no precise location unless a parent sets one, no device identifiers, no behavioural analytics, no advertising identifiers.
Who can see what
- Parents see everything in their own family and control who is in it.
- Children see their own points, records and learning, the family tree, and the shared faith and story content. They cannot give points or see the grown-ups' own reward list.
- Grandparents, uncles and aunties ("family members") can give a small number of points and see the family's shared screens.
- Tutors see only the children a parent has assigned to them, and only those children's learning and points. They cannot see other children, parents' notes, requests or gifts. This is enforced by the database's security rules, not just by the app.
- Nobody outside your family can see any of it. There are no public profiles, leaderboards or sharing between families.
Where it is stored
All data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), in a project that belongs to Notice Me. Google acts as a processor under its Firebase privacy terms; data may be stored on Google's servers outside the UK, under Google's standard contractual safeguards. Photos are stored inside the family's own records, reduced in size, not in a separate photo library.
The app loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your device's IP address when the app loads, as it would for any website using those fonts. That is the only other party the app talks to.
Children
Notice Me is used by children, always under a parent's account. A parent creates a child's login, decides what is recorded about them, and can remove them at any time. The app never contacts a child, never shows adverts, never asks a child for personal details, and never shares a child's data with anyone. Points are for turning up and being noticed, never for being right, so nothing about a child's learning is scored or ranked against other children. We follow the UK Information Commissioner's Age Appropriate Design Code as the standard for how children's data is handled.
How long it is kept
For as long as your family uses the app. A parent can remove any member from the family, and any account holder can delete their own account from Settings — that removes them from every family they belong to and deletes their login. A family with no history can be deleted outright by the parent who created it. The family's shared record of points and marks belongs to the family, not to one person, and stays with the family until the family is deleted.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see the data held about you or your child, have it corrected, have it deleted, or object to how it is used. Most of this you can do yourself in the app; for anything else, email the address above and it will be dealt with within a month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Security
Every request to the database is checked against security rules that know who you are and what your role allows — the same rules whether you use the app or not. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and are never visible to the app or to the person running it. The rules are tested automatically before every change goes live.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will say so the next time a parent opens it. The date at the top is always the date of the current version.
